SEAT MAST TOPPER
A COLLABORATION WITH SAFFRON FRAMEWORKS DESIGNING A 3D PRINTED SEAT POST TOPPER
The selection of images shown to the left illustrate the design development of a seat mast topper, a component used to connect a bike saddle to a seat post. This is a project I completed with Saffron frameworks from 2021-2023 with the aim of creating something that could replace the more traditional looking seat post toppers on the market. The project brief was to generate a seat mast topper which would fit an ENVE saddle clamp (as pictured in the assembly photo) whilst featuring a timeless yet well engineered aesthetic to match the company brand.
Various concepts were tested throughout the design process as we experimented with clamp design, length, shape and weight. The use of an in-house 3D printed largely reduced the prototyping cost and time and enabled us to relentlessly refine the design until we achieved the product pictured to the left.
